Public Art at Nord Aurdal Junior High School in Fagernes, Valdres.
Students and teachers at Nord-Aurdal Junior High School had requested areas where students could display their own work. This was primarily in the subject of arts and crafts, but it is also relevant for other subjects. A visual and flexible wall was designed that could function both with or without exhibited student work. The idea for this wall was to create a system of plywood sheets with holes, round logs, shelves and also some lockable cabinets. In addition, 3 continuous walls on 3 floors will be decorated with student work made in collaboration with Tone Myskja and teachers at NAUS.
The visual material for the 4 walls were developed during a 5-week art project at the school. As inspiration and a starting point for the entire public art project, the students were to learn about abstract, conceptual and minimalist art. Student and artist composed a work of art using basic geometric shapes and the means of color, line, point, rhythm, contrast, development, size, division or mirroring. Tone Myskja collected and reworked the workshop material into coherent compositions.
